SAFE_Thailand (SFFST) and the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation: Elevating Thai Rail Industry to International Standards

SAFE_Thailand, under the brand SFFST, is pleased to present the progress of its project as part of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation framework, supported by the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (MLCSF) since January 2024. The project is designed to enhance the technological capabilities of local industries and align product standards with the requirements of high-speed railway development. Through close collaboration with national and international agencies over a 2-year period, the Company has been committed to building a robust and sustainable rail industry ecosystem in the region.
Key achievements of the project to date include upskill and new-skill training for over 210 industry personnel, four researcher exchange programmes among member countries, the publication of two national standards (TIS) related to rail systems, and the development of one future research project proposal for long-term cooperation. These accomplishments reflect the Company’s dedication to contributing meaningfully to the sustainable development of the region’s rail industry.
On 25 March 2026 in Bangkok, SAFE_Thailand had the honour of attending the MLC Week 2026 under the theme “A Golden Decade of MLC: Future Directions for Advancing Cooperation for a Resilient and Innovative Mekong-Lancang Region.” The event was organised to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation and to outline the direction for cooperation in the next decade. The event featured the official opening ceremony of projects funded by the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund 2025 (MLCSF 2025), as well as panel discussions with distinguished experts from various fields. Of particular significance was the session on youth leadership, which highlighted the role of the next generation in shaping the future of regional cooperation – reflecting the region’s commitment to sustainable development and innovation for the benefit of all member countries.
SAFE_Thailand reaffirms its commitment to supporting regional cooperation and remains dedicated to contributing to a stronger, more resilient, and opportunity-rich Mekong-Lancang region for all stakeholders.
